Judging the accurate size of an athletic shoe for a grown-up is not the matter of concern as their feet do not expand but for kids, you need to judge the correct sports-specific shoe along with the correct size as their feet are still growing.

For kids of 3 years and above shoes are to be replaced every 6 months as their feet tend to increase one-half of the original size.

Selection of a shoe

• Opt for shoes with laces as they help in adjustment of size that suits the kid’s feet.
• Upper division of a kid’s shoe must be of leather coated or a net like material.
• A child’s foot tends to perspire more so the upper part should get a gulp of air.
• Shun fabrics such as plastic.
• The inner sole should be a spongy or permeable material.
• The outer sole should provide grip, stifle and elasticity.
